renascitur
personal branding
Derived from Latin for 'to be reborn', renascitur is my personal brand. As companies seek to reinvent themselves or begin anew, a period of reflection and growth is necessary. It was a name that fits well with what I do and the assistance I can give in the transition: from the comfort of the old, to the introduction and excitement of the new.
Looking at the branding for my own work, I decided to do a deep dive and explore what it is I do and what problems are solved. In talking with past clients, the prevailing theme was a sense of rebirth within an organization. Whether with a rebranding, a new campaign, or updates to their current creative, the sense was one of excitement and evolution within these projects and the stories that accompany them.
Renascitur means just that. It is a sense of new possibilities emerging from the old. And for organizations, a sense of rebirth can be a magical thing.
The logo is written in a stylized version of a classic serif typeface. The mark itself isn't random, and was carefully considered. The 'r' comes after the period because the brand is all about what comes next. What happened before the period is in the past, and the focus is on the future.
When considering the aesthetic for the brand, rebirth within the animal kingdom was a natural fit. There are a large number of animals and insects alike that go through substantial metamorphoses throughout the course of their life.
From the ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan, the snake shedding it’s old skin for the new, the tadpole becoming the frog, and the caterpillar becoming a butterfly: the aesthetic began to exit the cocoon and take shape.
Now the focus is on what’s next and the continued evolution.
